Lifts Prove Popular for Furniture

Transdek's range of mobile loading docks is gaining popularity in the world of furniture logistics, thanks to the safe handling and flexible use it provides operators. Unlike static lifts, these systems require no installation works and/or civils, and their unique lifting-wheel formula combines full mobility, where required, with a very solid, robust lift. Harveys took on an HH1500 for the offloading of incoming trailers and shipping containers at their Northampton depot, which does not have fixed docks. Lifting up to 1.9 metres, the Romadek provides a safe working platform for loaders up to the very top rear of vehicles. They use their HH1500 system for the safe handling of both soft furnishings and flatpack.

Kingstown and Seconique have also taken on Romadeks to improve the health and safety of their vehicle-loading and offloading. Both companies wanted the ability to be able to move their lift up to incoming vehicles and then out of the way, once unloading is completed, to keep doorway access clear.

And for moving goods between split-levels in their Tewkesbury site, Steinhoff opted for a Romadek XL1000. This system has an enlarged platform, which allows the carriage of three trolleys at a time, each carrying a full suite set. Says Allan Stewart, Operations Director for Steinhoff, “We had an urgent need for a goods lift on grounds of handling safety and efficiency. Our vehicles come in to raised docks, at 1.2 metres, but the rest of the building is at ground level.”
