Transdek’s got it covered at TCS&D Show

Date : Thursday, 30 June 2011

Loading systems specialist, Transdek will showcase its award-winning V2G (Vehicle To Ground) lifting system at this year’s Temperature Controlled Storage & Distribution Show at the East of England Showground in Peterborough from 14-15 September 2011 (Stand F1).

First unveiled at IMHX in 2010, the V2G system represents a leap forward in the design of loading systems for flat-floor retail sites or distribution hubs, removing the need for vehicle pits and raised docks for the loading and unloading of all types of goods vehicles, from rigids to the tallest double deck trailers.  This allows retailers to reclaim up to 500 sq m of dead space in the yard which can be used as additional sales or storage space.

Unlike traditional lifts which offer no protection from the elements, the V2G range is supplied as a pre-clad, pre-tested pod unit, providing a ready-made secure environment for both products and personnel between vehicles and the warehouse. As well as providing a sealed continuum from vehicle to door, Transdek’s unique loadhouse design can also be supplied complete with insulated cladding to ensure temperature-control for frozen and chilled products.

Transdek UK Managing Director, Mark Adams said: “We are already experiencing strong demand for the V2G system from a number of major supermarket retailers, primarily due to the space savings they can achieve and the ability of the system to service any mix of delivery vehicles: both the single deck trailers of today, and the growing double deck fleets of tomorrow.

“For food manufacturers and providers of temperature controlled storage and distribution, the system also has significant benefits in terms of their day-to-day operations, effectively addressing the issues of product damage and the security risks associated with exposed unloading at stores.”

A working V2G system will be installed at the show, allowing Transdek to demonstrate its unique technology and design features to visitors.

Unlike other systems designed for loading goods from vehicles to the ground, the V2G is surface-mounted and can be installed and operational within a day, without the requirement for any pre-dug pits or other costly enabling works.

Capable of unloading a single deck artic in 45 minutes, the V2G offers loading speeds equivalent to conventional raised docks. Winner of the Design4Safety Awards (Automation) 2010, the V2G also includes comprehensive features designed to support the safety of operators.
