Turner Bianca Turn To Transdek for Logistics Solutions

Turner Bianca, importers of fine household textiles, have taken delivery of two new Romadek HH1500 mobile dock lifts from Transdek UK.  The systems have been taken on to improve handling safety in offloading shipping containers at their Manchester depot, which does not have loading docks.

In the absence of a loading dock, reaching goods at the top of a vehicle, up to 4 metres off the ground, presents a high risk of injury to loaders.  The Romadek, once wheeled up to the vehicle-rear, raises up to provide a safe working platform for unloading.  “Particularly useful for us is the easy mobility of the systems, as well as their safety”, says Dan Goodhew, Site Manager of Turner Bianca.  “When not in use, we simply push the Romadeks aside to keep our doorways free”.

The versatility of the Romadek is shown in Turner Bianca’s use of the systems in conjunction with conveyor booms.  Whilst the Romadek platform provides safe access to goods at the top rear of a container, the conveyor minimises manual handling in lifting products down to the ground.  This combination provides the fastest and safest means to offload loose products from a goods vehicle to ground level.

Turner Bianca have now made it policy to only offload using the Romadek systems.  They are planning to order more systems in the near future to ensure full warehouse coverage at peak periods.
