Urban Wedge

The Urban Wedge offers unrivalled payload capacities on urban deliveries. The 10.6 metre long trailer gives a payload capacity of 40 pallets, 100% more than an equivalent urban artic, and up to 150% more than an 18 tonne rigid. Which means it can cut town and city centre mileages by up to 60%.

 Based on the same unique body and chassis design concept as our award winning 13.6-metre Wedge* double deck trailer, the Urban Wedge is available as a dry freight box van or with various temperature controlled options, making it ideally suited to transporting any mix of products in to city centres. The trailer offers specialist features for the urban environment as standard, including V-Glide sash type rear doors and a unique taillift design*.

 With a maximum overall height of 4.95 metres, the Urban Wedge’s patented chassis design provides internal clearance of up to 1867mm on both decks over the neck, and up to 1935mm rear aperture height per deck.

Our V-Glide sash type rear doors* offer a totally fresh approach to double deck rear doors. Each deck has its own counterweighted composite panel door that slides independently in slimline vertical columns set in to the rearframe, meaning that only one deck is open at a time. With a smooth, quick and easy open-close mechanism, and robust automatic locking mechanisms, our V-Glide doors generate the following operating benefits, compared to conventional barn and/or shutter door types:

We offer a range of double deck column taillifts to suit your specific requirements, including low beam lifts (with half barn doors) and taillifts with specially developed hydraulics* to work with our V-Glide rear doors. All of our taillifts are designed for the safest and most efficient double deck un/loading operations, and built to provide robust, low maintenance service. Our standard taillifts typically have a minimum 1700mm deep platform with a hydraulically powered closure. We offer comprehensive safety features as standard on all taillifts, with a range of optional extras for enhanced benefits. PIEK certified options are also available for out of hours deliveries.
