Customised lift enables fleet expansion and improves operational flexibility
Independent since 1969, Jersey Post provides postal and parcel delivery services to over 45,000 households and businesses across Jersey. The organisation operates a busy central sorting office supported by a mixed vehicle fleet.
To support growing parcel volumes and improve environmental performance, Jersey Post wanted to integrate fixed double deck trailers into its operations. With three existing bays already in use, Hörmann Transdek was commissioned to design an additional loading solution with minimal on-site disruption.
A surface-mounted modular double deck lift was supplied with an adjoining enclosed lobby, creating a fully sealed and self-contained connection between the lift and the existing warehouse. The entire unit was pre-constructed off-site and transported directly from Transdek’s Doncaster facility.
The lift was installed within four days with minimal construction work, significantly reducing disruption at the busy sorting office. The solution allows Jersey Post to operate a wider range of vehicle types while remaining adaptable to future fleet changes.
By enabling the use of double deck trailers, Jersey Post has increased freight capacity per vehicle, reduced overall vehicle movements and achieved measurable cost and emissions savings.
