Avara Foods is one of the UK’s largest food businesses, supplying chicken, turkey and duck to the UK’s supermarkets and restaurants. The company was formed in 2018, in a joint venture between Cargill’s UK fresh poultry business and Faccenda. The organisation is the sole UK supplier of chicken, turkey and duck.
As part of the redesign of Avara’s production facility, Transdek was commissioned to provide a two-bay loadhouse from a single bay. We designed a modular docking area at 1250mm, with an integrated forklift pallet-drop area and scissor lift load point. Insulated cladding, inflatable dock shelters and composite doors were specified to maintain thermal integrity. Vehicle bumpers, interlocked traffic lights and drawbridges were also included.
Avara has increased its loading capability and speed at the site by 100%, as well as no longer being forklift-reliant in its loading operation. The entire structure had to be fitted in under five days, which was achieved with Transdek’s modular, surface-mounted design. The complete extension can also be relocated in future to accommodate Avara’s future development and expansion.
