Customised lift enables fleet expansion and improves operational flexibility
Hills Prospect is a leading drinks distributor operating a fleet of 40 vehicles from its Romford distribution centre. The site services a range of delivery vehicles and traditionally relied on standard dock levellers for loading operations.
Two level-access bays at the site were proving inefficient and raised concerns around operator safety. Transdek worked closely with Hills Prospect to design a bespoke solution that would speed up loading while improving working conditions.
The resulting solution was a raised 56m² internal loading platform, complete with anti-slip flooring, safety barriers, steps and perimeter handrails. Two Hörmann mini docks were integrated, featuring a manually operated lip to bridge the gap between platform and vehicle.
The bespoke platform was delivered, constructed and operational within just four days. It immediately increased the number of fully operational loading bays from four to six, significantly improving loading and unloading efficiency.
The improved throughput helped the site manage peak seasonal demand, including the busy Christmas and New Year period, while enhancing overall operator safety.
