V2G lift increases material handling capacity and site flexibility
FreshLinc specialises in the end-to-end supply chain management of temperature-controlled fresh, chilled and horticultural products for retailers, growers and importers across the UK and Europe. Its FloraLinc division operates from a flat-floor distribution centre in Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire.
With existing loading bays operating at full capacity, FreshLinc required an additional loading solution to manage increasing volumes of plants and shrubs delivered on narrow trolleys. Prior to the project, vehicles were unloaded manually or by forklift, creating inefficiencies and congestion.
Transdek was commissioned to design a bespoke V2G modular lift and dedicated loading area tailored to the site’s flat-floor configuration. As the product loads were light but high in volume, Transdek engineered a custom platform size to maximise the number of trolleys handled per lift cycle.
The new V2G lift can unload a single deck articulated vehicle in just 25 minutes and accommodates up to 36 plant trolleys per cycle. Operating seven days a week, the system has significantly increased throughput while reducing congestion at existing bays.
The project was delivered from initial enquiry to completed installation in just four weeks, on time and on budget, with minimal disruption to operations.
