Nisa is a unique member owned organisation, serving independent food retailers across the whole of the UK and Ireland. The group represents over 1,300 registered shareholders operating over 3,000 stores. Nisa’s network dispatches over 2.7 million cases per week across the entirety of the UK, Republic of Ireland, Scottish Islands, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Channel Islands.
What We Did
10 ambient Wedge trailers were supplied, providing 25% more load and 7-tonnes more payload compared to Nisa’s conventional double deckers. The unique, chassis/body design of the trailers provide a full deck run-through of pallets or rollcages up to 1796mm in height.
Transdek also installed four double deck modular loadhouse units at Scunthorpe and Livingstone to support high volume loading on major trunking runs.
Through the introduction of the first 10 wedge trailers, Nisa has reduced its primary transport profile by circa 25 trunks per week by using the additional floor space and weight capacity more effectively.
In total, over 1,300 trunks have been removed from its transport network and nearly 820,000 km slashed from vehicle routes annually. This equates to saving approximately 273,000 litres of diesel a year.
In addition, 10 powered double deck have been de-fleeted to accommodate Transdek’s innovative fixed double deck solution.
